ATEX/IECEx Zone 2/22 Approval

ATEX and IECEx are both systems that focus on safety in explosive atmospheres but differs in their geographical application. ATEX: Primarily applies to the European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA). It consists of two directives: one for equipment (ATEX 2014/34/EU) and another for workplace safety (ATEX 1999/92/EC). IECEx: An international certification system recognized globally, allowing for standardized equipment safety certification across countries.

The Zone 2/22 classification refers to areas where both gas and dust explosive atmospheres can under abnormal conditions. TEquipment used in Zone 2/22 must be designed to prevent ignition from both gas and dust sources. This includes compliance with stringent safety standards.

Some of the companies in the following industries may be classified as ATEX Zone 2/22:
• Chemical Manufacturing: The production and handling of chemicals can release volatile substances that create explosive atmospheres.
• Pharmaceuticals: Processes involving solvents and other flammable materials in drug manufacturing
• Food and Beverage: Certain processes, especially those involving alcohol and other volatile ingredients, can create flammable atmospheres.
