In December 2021, Honeywell’s Datamax printers were discontinued and required customers to transit from the legacy Datamax printers to Honeywell printers. Datamax printers use DPL (Datamax Printer Language) and Honeywell’s current printers use IPL (Intermec Printer Language). The transition from one printer language presents a challenge for many customers. If you are looking for an easy transition from Datamax printers, you can consider the Zebra ZT111 and ZT231 printers as DPL (Datamax Printer Language) and IPL emulations (Intermec Printer Language) are already included by default.

To migrate to other models of Zebra printers (besides ZT111 and ZT231), you can use on-printer emulation apps which provide a variety of printer command languages. Multiple emulations can be downloaded on a Zebra printer for user to choose their preferred command languages. These Printer Emulations are optimized to ensure fast throughput and quality labels. Print DNA printers using Printer Emulations can be easily managed and secured using the Printer Profile Manager Enterprise app. Printer Emulations can be downloaded to Print DNA capable printers using the Printer Setup Utility for Android and iPhone/iPad, the Printer Setup Utility for Windows, or the Z-Downloader for Windows.
